Cambridgeshire Mencap
Local support for people with learning disabilities
Our mission is to empower and support people of all ages with a learning disability, and their families and carers, from across Cambridgeshire. We offer services that help people with a learning disability live life to the full, these include:
- A family support service providing volunteers who give practical support such as taking children with a learning disability on an outing, giving parents and carers respite
- Daily “Artworks” sessions, giving the opportunity for adults to take part in arts, crafts and drama activities
- A catering and hospitality course for young adults and Fare Shares Café offering supported work placements
- A pre-school music therapy service and two Downs Syndrome parent support groups
- A theatre arts workshop for young people to explore their creative talents, develop friendships and increase confidence
- A gardening project for adults to grow produce and maintain gardens
- The Windmill hydrotherapy pool offers individual and group sessions, physiomobility and rehabilitation sessions and hiring for pool parties
Cambridgeshire Mencap provides a range of supported living services in and around Cambridge for people with learning disabilities. We support individuals in residential and supported living services where each person has their own tenancy. We provide domiciliary support to people in the local area and we provide a short break service offering respite care.
