Way2Go’s first objective is to provide Way2Go Workshops in the townships of South Africa

President Ramaphosa has described this crisis as one of the greatest problems facing South Africa.

Accordingly the Presidential Youth Employment Intervention was introduced, culminating in the Skillcraft Programme, a 21st century digital skills assessment and careers guidance tool.

But the University of Cape Town has reported that the programme is too expensive, unsustainable, not aligned to the labour market and, most importantly, does not reach the most disadvantaged youth who need it the most.

Why do Way2Go’s Workshops provide a better alternative to the Skillcraft Programme?

The main benefit of Way2Go Workshops is they help the disadvantaged young person to become more self-aware – more able to consider their aptitudes, qualities and motivational factors to assist them in deciding on the first step they should take in their career plan.  They provide them with the resources, the employability skills and self-confidence  so essential if they are to overcome their barriers and meet post-school challenges effectively.

Learning about the desperate statistics such as  the number of young people who are unemployed or that 50 – 60 % bright young people drop out of university in first year in South Africa can be shocking.
